Our strategic focus is to maximise the performance of our existing core businesses which involves enhancing returns from the Australian and New Zealand beer businesses, optimising value in the fine wine business and seeking growth opportunities in spirits and RTD markets and international wine export opportunities.
In August 2006, we announced two important initiatives in relation to our growth strategy. The first was the launch of the McKenna Bourbon brand in both full strength spirit and ready to drink (RTD) form. Available initially in the Queensland market, this exciting development is only the first step in a broader spirits/RTD strategy which will be progressively developed in the medium term. In August 2006, the Lion Nathan Wine Group (LNWG) announced an alliance with Beam Wine Estates in the US for the distribution of LNWG’s Australian and New Zealand premium wine portfolio into the US market.
